Program Full-Description

For 4 years, PeoplesHub has hosted Community Care Clinics for Chronically Ill and Disabled Movement Folks, a multi-racial space of strategy and peer support. Yet there are unique conditions in which Black disabled people live and navigate the world, which require an approach and understanding that can only happen amongst Black disabled people

As fascism continues to rise, we want to maintain the resiliency we’ve always had as a people and develop sustainable ways to continue resisting together.

We invite Black disabled movement workers into this space to connect with one another, develop points of unity of how we can work in movement spaces beyond the clinic, and share skills and resources that are specific to Black disabled communities or that have implications for our larger bodies of work.

Participants will:

  • Engage in strategic conversations to sharpen our organizing approaches.
  • Develop points of unity amongst Black radical disabled people.
  • Share tools, skills, and resources that continue to support black disabled people.

These clinics are designed for:

Black disabled people who are questioning where to spend their energy when faced with ableism and anti-Blackness in movement work, and who can agree on fundamentally shared values, e.g. participants may not have shared values around communism/socialism/anarchism, but are against exploitation of the land and one another.

Accessibility:

Access requests, including interpretation and captioners, can be made during registration or by emailing Dustin Gibson at dustin@peopleshub.org.  Requests for interpreters and captioners that are made less than 48 hours before the event typically are more difficult to meet. We will try and notify you if we cannot secure requested access.

Attendance:

We ask that registrants commit to attending all 4 sessions if possible.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

Cost

Free!

Though we appreciate donations from those who can afford to do so.

At PeoplesHub we are committed to communication access, radical hospitality, supporting facilitators, and making our offerings financially accessible. Donations allow us to continue offering programs like this one and pay speakers, tech support leads, interpreters, captioners, and other support staff a fair wage for their time and expertise.Like you, those who support our trainings work hard for change in their communities and have often developed the knowledge, skill and gifts that they are offering through many unpaid hours — let’s support them to be sustainable in their work and craft!
