Our Popular Education (Pop Ed) Approach

Abstract sketch of peopleOur Approach

Popular Education (Pop Ed) is a training methodology born directly from liberation struggles. Using this methodology, we not only educate, but also build power. Pop Ed invites the wisdom of groups by drawing from our experiences and engaging our heads, hearts and hands.

We combine Pop Ed with Solidarity Economy and Disability Justice principles and practices that are essential not only for dismantling systems of oppression, but also for building the systems and processes liberation requires. Disability Justice principles and Solidarity Economy principles significantly overlap, and the practices of cooperation, interdependence, and solidarity that both require are reflected in the theory and practices shared in our offerings.
